A proposed lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery manufacturing initiative positioned to serve Bangladesh's fast-growing electric vehicle, solar storage and backup power markets.
Al-Amin Traders is exploring the development of a LiFePO₄ (lithium iron phosphate) battery manufacturing facility in Bangladesh, targeting the country's rapidly expanding electric three-wheeler, solar home system and industrial backup power markets. The project is at feasibility and partner-structuring stage, and we are seeking a technology, capital or joint-venture partner to help bring it to development.
Bangladesh has one of the largest electric three-wheeler (easy-bike/rickshaw) fleets in South Asia, alongside a growing solar home system installed base and increasing demand for reliable backup power — all of which depend on lithium-based battery chemistries, the large majority of which are currently imported.
LiFePO₄ chemistry in particular is gaining global market share due to its safety profile, cycle life and lower reliance on cobalt, making it well suited to the price-sensitive, high-duty-cycle applications common in Bangladesh's EV and off-grid power segments.
Global battery supply chains are actively diversifying beyond a small number of manufacturing hubs, creating an opening for new manufacturing capacity in markets — like Bangladesh — that combine competitive labour costs, growing domestic demand and government support for local industrial manufacturing.
The proposed project involves establishing LiFePO₄ battery cell assembly and pack manufacturing capacity in Bangladesh, targeting both the domestic electric vehicle and renewable energy storage markets and potential regional export.
Facility scale, site location, technology licensing partner and production capacity are being defined jointly with the incoming investment or technology partner, informed by feasibility work and the partner's own manufacturing standards.
Al-Amin Traders' role is to lead local project development — securing land, coordinating with BIDA and relevant industrial authorities, and managing in-country execution — while the partner contributes battery technology, capital and manufacturing expertise.
Al-Amin Traders is one of Bangladesh's most broadly enlisted private suppliers under the Directorate General of Defence Purchase (DGDP), holding active supply relationships with BOF, COD, BAF, NSSD and EDCL across all 12 DGDP licence categories. This standing — built on years of formal government procurement compliance — gives us direct experience navigating Bangladesh's regulatory, institutional and government-facing processes that are equally relevant to structuring and delivering large-scale investment projects in the country.
We act as the local sponsor and execution partner: identifying the opportunity, engaging the relevant Bangladeshi authorities and counterparties, and coordinating due diligence for the international capital and expertise a project of this scale requires.
We are inviting engagement from institutions and investors best positioned to support a project of this scale and structure:
Bangladesh's Investment Development Authority (BIDA) operates a one-stop-service framework for foreign and joint-venture investment, covering company registration, work permits, utility connections and — depending on sector — tax holidays and import duty concessions. Structuring for this project would be developed in coordination with BIDA and relevant sector regulators once a lead partner is confirmed, with the specific incentive package subject to the final project structure and sector classification.
